Senior Sophie Servaes passes out on the floor.[/caption] by Madisson Jesse Sleep is a required part of every person’s life, but also sometimes can be hard to achieve. What are some rituals or habits used to fall asleep? Students from BHS share their personal techniques. Senior Rose Wahlmeier sleeps to the sound of white noise, which is similar to static. When asked why this helps her to fall asleep, she says, “It blocks out all other noise so I can hear a consistent sound.” Similarly, senior Emily Schneider always listens to the sound of her fan as she is heading towards dreamland. Whitney Wonser, sophomore, says that she has to have the door to her bedroom closed. She despises any light in the room. Fellow sophomore Abby Hammye must be holding a pillow in order to fall asleep. Whitney says that if it is taken away, Abby makes weird noises of distress. Sophie Servaes, senior, says that she can fall asleep in any place imaginable. Sophomore Michael Tate gets up at midnight every night and walks a circle around his room. Then he gets in bed and goes back to sleep. Freshman Jordan Torrez claims to wake up at 4 A.M. every day and check his phone to see if he has any messages. Chelsea Brown, junior, sleeps with a multitude of blankets. “I like to layer them so that the soft ones are on top of my pillows. It’s comfy that way,.” Sleeping positions vary between people as well. Nikita Rogers, sophomore, says that she likes to sprawl out. This makes it difficult to share a bed with her little sister. That’s all the s’news on this topic for now!
