“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” -Hebrews 3:13

This is the verse of the year for one of this month’s feature clubs, B.A.S.I.C., or Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

“We selected this verse because it tells us how we should live our lives out as Christians, something the officer team selected to focus on this year,” said club president, junior Abby Hammye as to the reasoning behind the verse.

This club meets every Thursday night at sponsor Judy Hudson’s house outside town at 7:30.

BASIC meetings involve a short lesson followed by small groups led by co-presidents Abby and senior Seth Pollet, as well as senior STUCO representative Braden Lawson and junior secretary Branden Alford.

This group is involved in many other Christian activities throughout the year, for example, BASIC partners with FCA for See You at the Pole in September.

Also, this club takes regular mission trips to Bartlesville, OK, to volunteer at the Voice of the Martyrs, an organization focused on assisting the persecuted church around the globe by making their cause known or sending supplies such as translated bibles for distribution.

Occasionally, the club hosts movie nights, either showing a new Christian movies or going to the theatre as a group.

The major goal of BASIC, according to Seth, is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone.

“First and foremost, we want to reach the world with the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ,” he said.

If you have any questions at all, stop an officer in the hall.

They will be happy to answer any and all questions concerning the club itself or their own Christian faith.
