Dear Jane, We are only a few days into 2018, and I have already failed all of my New Year’s Resolutions. All I wanted this year was to lose 50 pounds and find a quality guy. I even had a full-proof plan, and I don’t understand how it failed! I planned on losing my extra weight by following a strict diet of only vegetables and running every morning and night. However I have only lost four pounds! The article I read online said I should have dropped 10 by the end of my first week! Plus, I still haven’t found the guy I am looking for. I signed up for every online dating site, and I have even began to flirt with anyone I find attractive. I believe I am fairly pretty, so why hasn’t anyone picked me up? Please Help, Clueless Carla Dear Clueless Carla, It is very clear to me that you have set yourself up for failure. Your goals are completely ridiculous; they are only holding you back. First of all, losing weight fast is nearly impossible, and it can be very dangerous. There is nothing wrong with enjoying a good dessert every now and then. If you want to eat a cookie, go for it. Who cares about a diet. All that matters is that you are healthy and comfortable with your body. Also, please delete all of your dating apps. You live in Burlington Kansas, so there is no way you are going to find “the one” in this school. Most of the boys here (or at any high school) are either too full of themselves or too immature to know a good thing when they see it. Plus, the ones who are actually good are already taken.
